Karate at St. Francis'

Merits of adopting Karate:

Karate, the art of self defence, has multi-dimensional benefits. It adds to the child’s total wellbeing, both psychological and physical. While the physical aspects of exercise and Martial Arts training improve your child’s general health, it likewise improves emotional health with increased self-esteem and self-confidence as well as decreased tension, stress and anxiety.  Overall, it inculcates discipline, self-control and physical health.

We adopt a form of Martial Arts known as Shotokan which is based around the Dojo Kun (philosophical rules for training) which are;

          1. Seek Perfection of Character. (Integrity)
          2. Be Faithful. (Loyalty)
          3. Always Endeavour. (Effort)
          4. Respect Others. (Etiquette)
          5. Refrain from Violent Behaviour. (Control)
